School Boy Cricket. Kearsney College vs Clifton High School – Smith Oval, KZN
Kearsney College enjoyed a triumphant Saturday on the cricket fields, with every team securing victory against Clifton High School.
1st XI Match Summary
On Smith Oval, Clifton won the toss after overnight rain left conditions favorable for bowling. They struck early, reducing Kearsney to 22/3. The hosts, however, fought back brilliantly through a 149-run stand between Asher Hollister (72) and captain Keegan de Jager (60). Their partnership also steadied the innings and set the platform for a competitive total. A late flourish from Daniel Miskey (32 off 25 balls)* lifted Kearsney to 211/7. Clifton’s Daniel Rea was the standout bowler, claiming 4/58.
Clifton’s Chase
Kearsney responded strongly with the ball, striking twice to leave Clifton reeling at 20/2. A determined partnership between Daniyaal Klinck (48) and Hayden Driesselman (43) carried Clifton to 98 after 25 overs, also keeping them in contention. But once both fell, the innings faltered. The visitors never regained momentum and were bowled out for 143.
Kearsney’s attack was spearheaded by Litha Gonya (2/29) and Mathew Gorrie (2/22), who ensured Clifton’s chase never recovered.
Result
Kearsney sealed a 68-run victory, capping off their season on a high note with a clean sweep across all teams.
