The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) held a dinner to honour all clinic controllers in the midlands region. This was held at the Golden Horse Casino on Friday, 22 February with East Coast Radio’s Darren Maule as the Master of Ceremonies.
St Charles College was awarded fourth place in the school’s category, having achieved 203 donations in 2018. This is a personal record for the College thus far. It is also a notable achievement by our boys, considering that we have fewer students than other schools in the midlands region, and we only had three clinics in 2018.
Every pint of blood collected saves three lives which mean that, collectively, our boys saved 609 lives through their unselfish blood donations. Congratulations to our brave young men who have acknowledged their social responsibility. – Charlotte Pillay (Head of Grade 12 and SCC Blood Clinic Controller)
