SAICE Aqualibrium Schools Water. The SAICE Aqualibrium Schools Water Competition is a prestigious national event in South Africa that promotes civil engineering and water conservation. High school teams are challenged to design and construct a model water distribution network capable of delivering 3 liters of water equally to three different points. The competition highlights the importance of water service delivery, equitable distribution, and sustainable infrastructure management, while also showcasing career opportunities in STEM fields.
After winning the regional round, a team of three Maritzburg College Fourth Formers advanced to the national finals held in Johannesburg last week. They competed against 15 other schools, representing the top institutions from across South Africa and Swaziland.
The national contest was fiercely competitive, with second- to fourth-place separated by technicalities after all three teams achieved identical scores. Against this tough field, the Maritzburg College team delivered an outstanding performance, securing fourth place overall.
The team members were:
- M Clark
- J Smith
- H Storm
This achievement reflects not only their technical skill and teamwork but also the College’s commitment to fostering innovation and excellence in STEM education.
