SA Sprint Championships. Hilton College’s Matthew Wilson delivered a standout performance at the SA Sprint Championships. It was held at Roodeplaat Dam, cementing his reputation as one of the country’s rising stars in canoe sprinting.
Partnering with Keegan Vogt of Maritzburg College, Wilson powered to victory in both the U18 K2 1000m and U18 K2 500m events. Their gold-medal triumphs showcased not only exceptional endurance but also remarkable teamwork and composure under pressure.
Competing individually, Wilson continued to impress. He claimed silver in the grueling U18 K1 5000m race, demonstrating stamina and determination, before adding a bronze in the lightning-fast K1 200m sprint. These results capped off a championship campaign marked by consistency, versatility, and sheer competitive spirit.
Matthew’s achievements reflect the dedication and discipline fostered at Hilton College, and his success stands as an inspiration to his peers and the broader school community.
