SA Schools Boat Race.
The weather for SA Schools Boat race finals day was very wet and miserable but it could not dampen the spirits of our crews and the supporters!
Congratulations to St Stithians College crews for their sheer grit, determination and courage out on the water yesterday, 9 December. “We could genuinely feel every bit of passion these young rowers fought with.”
St Stithians College are exceptionally proud of their girls crew who won the B final. The team finished third overall with a bronze medal. A very closely contested race with the crews racing head to head for the early part of the race. Saints girls pulled clear with a great effort and broke contact with the Holy Rosary crew in the second half of the race ultimately claiming victory. Congratulations to the two crews on the wonderful spirit in which they competed.
The boys were up against the mighty St Benedict’s College crew in the A final. Saints lead for half the race but could not break contact with St Benedict’s. They dug deep and fought back hard to come from behind ultimately claiming gold with St Stithians’ boys fighting right until the end for their silver medal. Congratulations on an epic race between the two crews!
Both finals were raced with great determination and Saints’ crews are to be congratulated on the great sportsmanship they displayed throughout the weekend.
