SA Schools Boat Race. St Andrew’s School for Girls, Gauteng, once again proved its dominance on the water. They clinched the A Finals silverware at the prestigious SA Schools Boat Race on the Kowie River this past Saturday. In a thrilling showdown, St Andrew’s outpaced rivals St Stithian’s Girls College. They crossed the finish line with power and precision, successfully defending their title.
The victory was a testament to the team’s skill, discipline, and unity, as they turned the tables on their opponents after earlier head races. Their performance highlighted not only technical excellence but also the resilience that comes from months of preparation.
Team captain Jade Brunand credited their success to sticking to the race plan and the relentless training that built their endurance:
“We did a lot of endurance training, gym work, and strength training. By the time we hit the kilometer mark, we had that endurance in us, and it carried us through.”
With determination and teamwork, St Andrew’s showcased the spirit of champions, leaving no doubt that they remain a powerhouse in South African school rowing. Well done, St Andrew’s!
