Northern Cape High School at SA Junior Chess Championship

Zoë Milford participated in the SA Junior Chess Championship from 3-8 Jan in Boksburg.

Although the province did not send any teams to participate this year at the SA’s Zoë was able to play in a higher age group. She played for the U20 Girls Tshwane (Pretoria) team.

She won 6 games, drew 1 (no losses) after 7 rounds.

Her team won gold and she won a board prize.

Zoë also teamed up with a chess friend and they came 3rd in the doubles chess event out of 250 teams.

Furthermore, she was chosen as 1 of the 107 participants to play in the largest simultaneous chess event on African soil against GM Levon Aronian.

Her game lasted 8 hours.
