Camps Bay Primary School is pleased to welcome their new Principal, Mr Chris Storey, who joined the school from 1 October 2020.
Says Camps Bay Primary School’s School Governing Body Chairperson, Mr Chris Locker, “Mr Storey joins us after 13 years as Principal of Somerset House, an independent school in Somerset West where he drove the strategy for the regeneration of the school, encompassing staff restructuring, transformation, curriculum development, ICT and learner leadership. This resulted in the school being recognised as a top performing school by the IEB benchmark system. He also led an urban renewal plan which involved the building or renovation of almost every building on the campus.”
Adds Locker, “We hope to offer Mr Storey an environment that is open to his new and alternative education solutions that will enable him to be the change agent that can take Camps Bay Primary School to the next level of accomplishment across all spheres.”
Camps Bay Primary School is an English-medium neighbourhood primary school for the children of the Atlantic Seaboard, Hout Bay and the Cape Town City Bowl areas. The school follows the South African CAPS system and caters for students in Grades R – 7. Camps Bay Primary School is the main feeder school to Camps Bay High School.
Camps Bay High School’s Principal and current National President of SAPA (South African Principals Association), Mr Dave de Korte, is excited to have Mr Storey join the Camps Bay Schools family.
Says de Korte, “Mr Storey is the perfect fit for the Primary School. His calm and warm leadership style is in keeping with the family nature of the school. I have no doubt that under his visionary leadership, the school will be going to the next level as a safe and caring place of excellent educational experiences.”
Says Storey, “I am really excited about being here. From the first moment I walked into this school, I felt like this is a special place. I am passionate about making sure that school is a happy place for children, where they can learn in a relevant way, leaving them equipped to deal with their present and manage their futures successfully.”
