St Andrew’s School is extremely proud to announce that the school has seven teachers through the Motheo District round of the prestigious National Teachers Awards. The group attended the awards ceremony, acknowledging their work and commitment. These educators represent the whole school with each phase on the list. The school is proud of;
Awards:
- Mrs Christine De Fortier (1), Head of Little Saints Pre-Primary School, obtained excellence in Grade R teaching.
- Mrs Elsa Franke (3), Head of the Foundation Phase, received excellence in primary school teaching.
- Mr Jurgens Schneider (2), Head of the Junior School, was awarded excellence in junior school leadership.
- Mrs Henriette Rautenbach (1), Senior Mathematics teacher, obtained excellence in secondary mathematics teaching.
- Mr Nico Jurgensen (1), Head of Facilities and Tourism teacher, Mrs Deryn Soldo (2), Head of Culture and History teacher and Mrs Zayaan Jinnah (3), English teacher, all achieved excellence in secondary school teaching.
The winners, who were announced at the awards on Thursday 24th July will go through to the Free State round. St Andrew’s has three first places. Nico Jurgensen, Christine de Fortier, and Henriette Rautenbach, who will go through to the Free State awards.
Mr Roland Rudd, Headmaster, says ‘this is very good news for us, an exceptional achievement for teaching at Saints as well as for the individuals involved. It is a sign that our boys are in very good hands throughout the school, which gives us an edge when it comes to being a leading boys school in the Free State. It also goes a long way in achieving our 100% pass rate year on year. We wish all the staff good luck for the next round.”
St Andrew’s cultivates an ethos of excellence through small classes, individual attention and highly qualified staff. The school is proud of these staff and the many others that enable the school to achieve to this level, alongside the boys.
