Midlands Rugby Festivals. The Midlands Rugby Festivals serve as the start of the rugby season for most Preparatory Schools in KZN.
With teams from across the province participating, the quality of rugby on display is always of a high calibre, drawing big crowds. This time around, the St Charles College Prep 1st XV certainly turned heads as it was possibly the first time that the boys left the grounds at the end of the evening undefeated.
Playing four matches against local rivals, the boys representing the Blue and Gold played beautiful rugby, often running the ball from coast to coast, with the odd individual brilliance on display. Scoring tries and attacking are one thing, however, defending is crucial to winning on big days such as this.
The prospects for the season look good, and St Charles College is excited to see what this team will do on their out of province tour at the end of the month.
Well done to the boys, and to the coaches who are developing these future stars. – Mr Divan van Wyk (Sports Marketing).
