Michaelhouse Hockey Festival. Kearsney College – Strong Performances at Michaelhouse Hockey Festival.
Kearsney College showcased its hockey excellence at the inaugural Michaelhouse Hockey Festival this past weekend, with both the 1st XI and U16A teams delivering skill, determination, and depth against top schools from across South Africa.
1st XI – Silver Medal Success
- The 1st team produced a remarkable run, securing impressive victories over Paarl Boys’ High, Reddam Constantia, Hilton College, and Maritzburg College.
- Their consistency also earned them a place in the final, where they faced a clinical Northwood side. Despite a valiant effort, Kearsney finished as runners-up, proudly claiming second place overall.
U16A – Spirited Campaign
- The U16A team impressed with convincing wins against Hilton and St Andrew’s, and a thrilling shoot-out victory over Paarl Boys’ High.
- Their momentum carried them into the semi-finals, where they narrowly lost to a strong Rondebosch outfit.
- In the 3rd/4th playoff, they battled Maritzburg College, ultimately securing a commendable fourth place.
A Benchmark for the Season
Across both age groups, Kearsney’s players displayed resilience, teamwork, and a high standard of hockey, setting a strong benchmark early in the season. The valuable experience gained against elite opposition will serve them well in the challenges ahead.
