We welcome Mr Linda Zondi, Old Boy, back to our school this morning. Mr Zondi has left a rich legacy at Glenwood. Excelled in Cricket, came back and introduced the concept of the Cricket Academy and continued to be involved in the School. Mr Zondi is now the National Convenor of the Proteas and we are very proud of his achievement.
Mr Zondi has assisted in arranging for the MEC of Health to address the boys and Staff in assembly this morning.
We are honoured to welcome to our school this morning the MEC for Health, the Honourable DR (Brigadier General) Sibongiseni Maxwell Dhlomo.
Dr Dhlomo was born in Umbumbulu south of Durban. He studied Medicine at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and later also completed a BA degree in Psychology and Sociology. This was followed by a Masters’ Degree in Public Health at Medunsa.
He has done extensive work to manage the HIV programme in the South African Defence Force since 2004.
His activities in MK led to his incarceration on Robben Island in the 1980’s.
Dr Dhlomo’s passion for improving the lives of ordinary people is an inspiration to all of us.
Not only is he an intellectual, freedom fighter, medical practitioner, but also the proud dad of three children.
We have interviewed and accepted his son to join Glenwood but unfortunately the family relocated to Gauteng.
We are going to discuss the option of Gibson House with Dr Dhlomo today.
