Matric Dance. Shannon Sukdaven, Grade 12 learner from Matric Dance – Shangri-La Academy, Kemptonpark, wrote the perfect summary to recap their Matric Dance.
“In many ways the matric dance felt like the beginning of the end. It was the first big celebratory milestone of matric marking the beginning of the end of our schooling career. But at the same time it was also the end of the beginning. It was the last big school celebration where we got to let loose and just have fun before we begin our lives as true adults. It was the end of the partying, and the beginning of grind time. Summed up, it was a good time, but also unbelievable that high school went by so fast.
The night is certainly one that will always remembered, full of glitz, glam, laughter and fun. The girls were stunning, the boys dashing. Or dare I say young ladies and men instead, because even though we’ve been told since the beginning of this year that we are now young adults, it never really hit until we all looked like it on that night, in our dapper suits and gorgeous dresses. But I guess at heart we will always still just be children wanting to have fun, and feel happy, since it didn’t take long for heels to come off, so we could all dance and sing the night away.
I think as a whole grade we can all agree that the class of 2024 left our mark in a way no other year before us have, right from the MD proposals down to the outfits and vibes. Thank you to all our wonderful teachers, for making the night possible. We truly felt like real guests of honour, well deserving of the glory. Final level 12 unlocked, in stage 1 at least. Cue the outro music, because we’re getting closer to the end of school.
And who made it possible? GOD DID.”
