Die Gr 7 leerders van Laerskool Thabazimbi het gister, 8 Junie, teruggekeer na die skool. Die groep, sowel as die klasse, is in 2 verdeel. Baie dankie aan ons Gr 7 leerders vir julle puik gedrag die afgelope 2 dae. Dit is ‘n plesier om skool te hou met die kleiner klasse. Elke klas het dan ook op sy eie tyd ‘n pouse, sodat sosiale afstand maklik gehandhaaf kan word. Ouers, wees verseker dat julle kinders veilig gehou word en dat hulle volstoom aan die gang is.
Laerskool Thabazimbi lê aan die voet van die Ysterberg, Limpopo Provinsie. ‘n Uitstekende klimaat, vooruitstrewende ekonomie, en mense met ‘n positiewe gesindheid, maak hierdie laerskool ‘n juweel in ons geweste.

Huiswerkbeleid:
Elke kind ontvang ‘n gratis skooldagboek aan die begin van die jaar om huiswerk af te skryf wat by die huis moet gedoen word. Elke kind is self verantwoordelik om sy/haar eie huiswerk in die klas af te skryf. Huiswerk moet stiptelik gedoen word. Dit is die ouers se verantwoordelikheid om toe te sien dat huiswerk gedoen word. Indien ‘n leerling afwesig was, is dit sy/haar verantwoordelikheid om die huiswerk in te haal.
Taalbeleid:
Die taalmedium van die skool is parallelmedium en vir elke graad is daar Afrikaans-medium – sowel as Engels-medium klasse. Huidig het ons drie Afrikaans-medium klasse en een Engels-medium klas per graad, behalwe graad R waar daar 4 Afrikaans-mediumklasse is.
Selfoonbeleid:
1.Die skool erken dat selfone ‘n uiters belangrike en handige kommunikasiemiddel geword het, maar is ook daarvan bewus dat die gebruik of misbruik daarvan (veral deur kinders) sosiale-, etiese en veiligheidsrisiko’s inhou. Weens die volgende redes verkies die skool dat leerders nie in besit van selfone moet wees terwyl hulle by die skool is of terwyl hulle in skoolklere geklee is nie.
• Leerders wat selfone dra, veral onderweg na en van die skool, het die teiken geword van misdadigers wat hulle konfronteer en van hul selfone en ander besittings beroof. Hierdie aanvalle kom veral voor wanneer leerders gesien word terwyl hulle hul selfone gebruik en veral ook as dit duur, nuwe populêre modelle is.
• Die diefstal van selfone uit tasse en sakke is ‘n voortdurende probleem.
• Leerlinge is agterlosig en laat hul selfone onbewaak rondlê in tasse en sakke. Selfone wat verloor of verlê word, word dikwels verkeerdelik as gesteel aangemeld.
• Selfone word gebruik om in toetse en eksamens te kul. Om hierdie rede word selfone in toets- en eksamen lokale, ook met eksterne eksamens, verbied.
• Selfone word voortdurend meer multifunksioneel, met verskeie funksies om gebruikers mee te lok en te vermaak. Die geredelike beskikbaarheid van hierdie funksies lei daartoe dat leerders dit in die klaskamer wil gebruik, wat veroorsaak dat hul aandag van die skoolwerk afgelei word. Veral leerders met min selfdissipline, swak konsentrasie vermoëns en/of swak werksetiek, se aandag word afgetrek.
• Selfone laat onbeperkte toegang toe tot ongesensorde, wellustige en ouderdoms onvanpaste materiaal.
• Selfone maak leerlinge kwesbaar vir toenadering deur ongewenste persone of groepe, waaronder kriminele en pedofiele, (Mxit)
• Selfone mag moontlik private en persoonlike inligting soos foto’s, videogrepe, stemboodskappe en persoonlike inligting bevat wat in die hande van ongewenste persone of -groepe kan beland wanneer dit gesteel, verlê of uitgeleen word.
LET WEL:
2. Die skool aanvaar geen verantwoordelikheid vir die diefstal of verlies van enige selfoon nie, wat ookal die omstandighede mag wees. Dit sluit selfone in wat by die onderwyser of afrigters ingehandig is vir veilige bewaring of wat, ondanks skoolreëls, deur leerlinge gebruik en deur die skool gekonfiskeer is.
3. Leerlinge wat, ondanks die skoolbeleid, steeds selfone skool toe bring moet verseker dat die selfoon:
• afgeskakel (nie op “silent”) en buite sig is binne skoolgeboue en klaskamers
• nie aan hul persoon gehou word terwyl toetse geskryf of eksamens aflê nie.
4. Die skool sal onder geen omstandighede met ouers in gesprek tree i.v.m. klagtes wat hulle tydens skoolure per selfoon van hul kinders ontvang het nie.
5. Wat is die straf wat opgelê word vir oortreding van bogenoemde? Leerders wat hulle skuldig maak aan enige oortreding met ‘n selfoon sal volgens die skool se gedragskode gestraf word – afhangende van die aard van die oortreding. (Dit kan wissel van Kategorie1 tot Kategorie 3 oortredings).
Cellphone policy
1. The school acknowledges the fact that cell phones have become an important and useful way of communication, but is also aware of the fact that the use and abuse, particularly by children poses social, ethical and safety consequences. The school would prefer students not to have cell phones in their possession while they are at school or in school uniform due to the following reasons:
• Students who carry or use cell phones in public, particularly when travelling to and from school, have become the target of criminals who confront them and rob them from their cell phones and other possessions. The attacks occur most frequently when students are seen using their cell phones, particularly if they are expensive and/or “latest models” or sought-after brands.
• Theft of cell phones from bags is a persistent problem.
• Students are careless with their cell phones and leave them lying around in bags which are left unattended. Lost and mislaid cell phones are frequently claimed to be stolen when it is not the case.
• Cell phones can be used to cheat in examinations and tests. For this reason, no cell phone are permitted in examination venues or in teaching venues when tests and examinations are written. This same policy applies to the externally set national examinations.
• Cell phones are increasingly multi-functional, offering an array of features which are designed to attract and entertain users. The ready availability of theses features means that students with cell phones tend to access and use these features in the classroom, becoming distracted from their work. Students with low levels of self-discipline, poor concentration and/or a poor work ethic are more likely to become distracted by these features.
• Cell phones allow students unlimited access to salacious and age-inappropriate material.
• Cell phones make students vulnerable to approaches by undesirable individuals or groups including criminals and paedophiles. (Mxit)
• Cell phones may carry private and personal material, including photographs, video clips, voice messages and personal details which may become accessible to undesirable individuals and groups when cell phones are lost, borrowed or stolen.
NOTE:
2.The school will not take responsibility for the theft or loss of any cell phones brought to school, no matter what the circumstances. This includes the loss or theft of cell phones that may be handed in to teachers and/or coaches for safekeeping, as well as to cell phones which have been confiscated from students who use them in defiance of the school rules.
3. Students who, despite the school’s policy, insist on bringing a cell phone to school are required to ensure that it is:
• turned off (not on silent) and is not visible while they are in school buildings.
• not on their person when they are writing tests and examinations.
4. The school will not, in principle, under any circumstances engage in discussions with parents as a result of complaints received from their children by cell phone during the school day.
5. Punishment for transgression of one of above mentioned: Should a child neglect to obey above mentioned rules he/she will be disciplined according to the Code of Conduct and the seriousness of the offence
