Kerryn Herbst, a grade 10 pupil at St Andrew’s School for Girls in Bedfordview, participated in the Mare Nostrum Gala on 16 and 18 June. The Mare Nostrum Gala was created following the establishment in 1988 of the international swimming meeting held in Canet, with other major meetings taking place in Barcelona and Monaco. A one of a kind event, the Mare Nostrum hosts three competitions over ten days, and has become one of the top events for international swimming. Kerryn had the opportunity to race in heats with Olympians and get her photo taken with them. Of the 4 events she entered, Kerryn made three B finals and won the 100m back B final.
