Katherine Deacon, a grade 2 pupil at St Andrew’s School for Girls, represented Central Gauteng for level 3 Rhythmic Gymnastics at SAGF’s Zone Competition. She came second in her U8 age group and achieved gold medal scores for both routines.
In addition, Katherine performed 7 routines at the East Rand Dance Festival and was awarded three A pluses, two A’s and two B’s. She was competing as an amateur for the four ballet routines and as a pre-amateur for the three contemporary solos. For the latter, she received three first place medals in 7 and under 9 solos: Modern Own Style, Tap Straight plus Song and Dance. On the final prize-giving evening, Katherine won the trophy for “Most Promising Tap Performer 13 and under.”
Katherine also entered the National Eisteddfod this month. She was allocated Junior Diplomas for both Piano Elementary Level and Voice Solos.
