IEB Grade 12 examination. The 23rd of November marked a bittersweet moment at Curro Nelspruit. As the day of the final IEB Grade 12 examination, it also meant the end of the journey for the Class of 2023 at Curro Nelspruit.

As per tradition, the outgoing Grade 12s ring the bell to signify the completion of five fruitful years here at the high school. The Bell Ringing Ceremony commenced with a scripture reading and prayer. This is followed by each and every matriculant walking through the arch and ringing the bell. Teachers and learners gathered to watch, as well as say their final goodbyes to the Class of 2023.

Another tradition completed on this day is the donation of school shoes by the Grade 12s. As they put their pens down for the last time, they removed their school shoes, placed them on their desks, and left the hall as adults. The shoes were collected by Rotary, who saw to their distribution to the less fortunate.

To the Class of 2023, we wish you well as you begin this next phase of your lives. In the words of Dr Seuss: “You have brains in your head and feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.”
