Hockey Coaching – Two hockey coaches from Grey College, Mr Wayne Coetzee and Mr Tristan van der Spuy, Director and Head of Hockey respectively achieved their Federation of International hockey (FIH) Level 3 coaching accreditations. Both coaches also have their local SAHA level 3 accreditations.
This internationally recognised course consisted of in-depth focus on coaching theory in the following areas:
- Advanced teams
- High performance hockey athletes
- Mentoring coaches
- As well as a competency-based assessment which was conducted.
Wayne and Tristan are also the only two coaches in the Free State region that have their FIH Level 3. The main aim was to bring back this experience and plow back into the Grey College Hockey program for seasons to come.
