High-intensity water polo. The final chapter of the year’s sporting calendar unfolded with a thrilling series of high-intensity water polo matches between Kearsney College and Clifton. With year-end exams looming, only the A teams took to the pool—delivering performances that also highlighted the impressive depth of talent across both schools.
U14A Match The U14A encounter ended in a dramatic draw, with Kearsney holding a commanding 6–2 lead at half-time. Clifton mounted a spirited second-half comeback, showcasing remarkable resilience to level the score against a Kearsney side that has dominated multiple tournaments this season. It was a commendable display of grit and determination from both teams.
U15A Match. Historically on the back foot against Clifton, the Kearsney U15A team flipped the script with a powerful performance. The match remained tightly contested throughout, culminating in a nail-biting 9–9 draw after Clifton equalised in the final moments. Both sides demonstrated exceptional skill and composure under pressure.
1st Team Match. The 1st team clash was a true spectacle, keeping spectators on edge from start to finish. Clifton surged ahead early, leading 5–2 after the first quarter. Kearsney responded with determination, narrowing the gap to 6–7 by half-time. The third quarter saw a flurry of goals from both teams, ending 9–10 in Clifton’s favour. In a thrilling final quarter, Kearsney found another gear, outscoring Clifton 5–3 to secure a dramatic 14–13 victory.
Standout Performances. Kearsney’s standout players included Max Mills (5 goals, 5 assists), Oliver Ludwig (3 goals), and Oliver Ludwig (3 goals), each contributing significantly to the team’s success.
