Head Girl 2025. HeronBridge College. Meet Hannah Joy Currie.
As part of Schools That Rock’s tradition of celebrating young leaders, we’re proud to feature Hannah Joy Currie, Head Girl of HeronBridge College for 2025.
Hannah steps into her role with a heart full of purpose and a vision rooted in connection: “As Head Girl, I’m looking forward to building relationships within our school community, fostering unity, and igniting school spirit—especially alongside our amazing leadership team.”
Her personal leadership philosophy centers on humility and service. She’s committed to showing up fully for HeronBridge, with a goal to energize school spirit and “gees” by making sure she and her fellow leaders are present at every derby day and school festival.
What makes HeronBridge stand out to Hannah is its heart: “From our Grade 11 mission trips to The Bridge of Hope shop and outreach programmes—our school has a spirit of giving that’s truly special.”
Dream of progress
She’s not afraid to dream of progress either. One of the changes she hopes to see is more unity and fewer cliques. “Clicks are a part of high school, but I’d love to see that minimized. I want students to feel like they’re part of one passionate, inclusive community.”
When asked why someone should choose HeronBridge, Hannah paints a vivid picture: “HeronBridge isn’t just a place you attend for six hours a day. It’s where you meet friends, create family, grow as a person, and get incredible opportunities to try new things. It’s home.”
Greatest strength
As a leader, she names her greatest strength as inclusivity and empathy—qualities she uses to uplift and collaborate with her team. “I believe in encouraging others publicly, offering constructive feedback when needed, and being open to feedback myself. That’s how we all grow.”
The person she admires most? Her mom. “She’s the strongest woman I know—my role model and my superwoman.”
Outside of school life, you’ll find Hannah enjoying a plate of seafood pasta and dreaming of a future in medicine. “I pray I can study medicine and become a doctor. I’d be happy at any university, but I’d especially love to study at Tuks to stay close to my family.”
