Head Girl 2024.  Like in previous years, Schools That Rock interview Head Leaders of High Schools in South Africa. Today we also learn more from Tshegofatso Motsisi, Head Girl 2024 from Curro Kathu.
Tshegofatso, tell us more about yourself and your leadership.
- My name is Tshegofatso Motsisi. I am currently in matric and Head Girl 2024 ay Curro Kathu. I am a hardworking individual who prides herself with integrity. I work with diligence and confidence. I would describe my leadership skills as guiding and influencing my teammates towards reaching and achieving a common goal. In my leadership style I embrace everyone’s diversity. I acknowledge that on the road to success you are going to experience challenges but that’s when you learn the most…. Leadership, in my opinion, is a personal journey where a person learns a lot.
What are your personal goals for this year?
- My personal goals this year are to get distinctions in all my subjects. I also want to excel in culture activities, lead my team to the best of my ability and give it my all in sports whilst still maintaining a healthy mental state, social life and a good relationship with God.
Tell us more about your goals for Curro Kathu for your term of service?
- As Head Girl 2024, my goals are to ensure that we make school such a positive atmosphere and a fun place to be at. In this way it could potentially encourage more learners to be more enthusiastic about school.
What were the biggest challenges you experienced as a learner of your school?
- The constant travelling from Postmasburg to Kathu and back every day…. It is quite an inconvenience.
What stands out most to you at Curro Kathu?
- The endless opportunities that you are given to excel in the cultural and artistic categories.
Who do you look up to for inspiration or mentorship?
- Daniel from the Bible, because his life is an epitome of an individual who stands upright on his decision. He sticks to whatever decision that he has made with no doubt of what the consequence is. His confidence in his decision-making skills inspires me especially when I feel very undecided on what to do. Secondly Daniel from the Bible, because he has showed us many times that we need to stand up for what is right even if we must stand alone. Both leaders have characteristics that complement one other.
Tshegofatso, you’re a kitchen article? What are you and why?
- Pioneer women because I love experimenting and trying out new things.
How would your friends describe you?
- Fun, hardworking and very spontaneous. Other could describe me as competent.
What motivates you to achieve your goals?
- My passion and fire inside of me that burns for whatever goal that I have set for myself. That pushes me to achieve it.
Why would you advise learners to also become part of Curro Kathu?
- Curro Kathu is a great school in which you are exposed to endless opportunities. I would advise them to get their mindset ready for the hard non-ending workload that you will get.
Who is your favourite teacher and why?
- Mr John and Mr Alban, because no matter what, they always encourage me and give me life-advice that are very beneficial and relevant to where I am in life and how I am feeling. Despite them being teachers, they are always willing to listen to whatever challenges and difficulties I may be experiencing as a learner. They are always open-minded to a different perceptive.
What are your future goals?
- My future goals are to be inspirational and a source of hope or motivation to many people in the world. I would like to also be a philanthropist especially in north Africa. Most importantly I would love to have generational wealth.
