St Andrew’s 1st XI delivered another clinical performance in Gqeberha, securing a commanding 5‑wicket victory over Kearsney College.
Bowling first, Nikhil Sukraj (5/28) spearheaded the attack with a superb spell, working in tandem with Ryle Beckmann (2/17) to suffocate the opposition’s scoring opportunities. Erhard Barends set the tone with relentless accuracy, sending down 10 overs for just 19 runs, including five maidens. Schalk van Rensburg added further pressure with a sharp 6‑over burst, claiming 3/21. Together, the attack dismantled Kearsney for a modest 106 in 38.4 overs.
Chasing under challenging afternoon spinning conditions, openers Barends and Jonathan Hickley steadied the innings with a 37‑run stand. Captain Reuben van Aarde then guided the chase with composure, finishing unbeaten on 27 to seal the win. St Andrew’s reached 107/5 in 26.5 overs, completing a professional all‑round display.
