Grey College took hands with a group of 3rd year medical students, including Old Greys, Jaco-Lou Bierman and Hanru Bührmann in 2020 to raise funds for Age in Action.
The Civvies Day was held and unfortunately due to the lockdown the outreach couldn’t take place.
This year another Old Grey, Righard Swanepoel (2018) and his fellow students, including Linda Groenewald (Eunice 2017) also adopted Age in Action as their community project and asked for our help.
The funds raised from the Civvies Day in 2020 were allocated towards helping the elderly at Age in Action and this week non-perishable food and toiletries to the value of R14 000 were donated!
The toiletries and food as well as a pamphlet with health advice from the medical faculty and some sweets, a face mask, face shield, clothes and blankets sponsored by other parties, were donated to them.
They were extremely grateful and couldn’t believe their eyes.
The elderly immediately started praying and giving thanks for the wonderful donations.
