Saturday 5th of August saw the undefeated Glenwood 1st XI take on Pinetown Boys High School at Glenwood home ground, Stella.  A bout of flu that has been going around forced some changes to be made to the Glenwood side that beat PMB College 7-2, in the previous week.

Glenwood started of strong, opting to play a 3-5-2 formation, which gave them a solid balance through all 3rds of the pitch and more numbers in the central zones of the pitch. The early exchanges of the game were very physical and the match official had a tough job on his hands seeking to control emotions from both sides. The first half was a cagey affair with very little chances for both sides. Late in the half Thabiso Ngcobo , clipped a pass over the top of the Pinetown defence , which met a well-timed run from Tirone Sewnarain , who evaded the Pinetown defender by body swerving the ball on the bounce and then lifting the ball over the goalkeeper , with the outside of his right foot to take Glenwood into halftime with the lead.

In the second half the game continued to be a tough tactical encounter between the two sides. Glenwood came closest to scoring with the introduction of the lively striker, Siya Mfusi, but it was not to be, the game would finish with Glenwood’s undefeated status intact , thanks to a wonderful strike from Sewnarain.
