The Glenwood 1st Water Polo team played back to back games on Saturday 2 September 2017, first facing St Stithians in a friendly match winning 5-4.
With back to back matches, they played Hilton next in Glenwood’s penultimate Winter League match. Both sides had a slow start with the first chukka being a game of the goalies, many misses and saves ending with no goals going into the 2nd Chukka. Hilton was first to score in the 2nd Chukka and Glenwood equalised soon after, this set the tone for the chukka ending 3 goals each. Both sides were fighting to take the lead going into the 3rd and then 4th chukka, it continued as a goal on goal game. Starting the 4th Chukka with a 4-3 lead to Hilton, Glenwood’s fitness gave them an advantage and they came back strong scoring 4 goals with a final score of 7-4 to Glenwood, the senior players took the helm in this game with top scorers being Gabriel Stopford, Slade Du Randt and Aaron Jacoby, a special mention must be made to Alex Van Rooyen who made some great saves on the day. Glenwood will face Clifton in their last game of the Winter League on Wednesday 6 September 2017.
