Giant’s Cup trail. ‘It is not the mountain we conquer – but ourselves.’ The Grade 7 Tribe spent two nights from 28 to 30 August on a part of the Giant’s Cup trail – spending the first night at Swiman’s ‘hut’ and the second at Bushman’s neck ‘hut’.
They hiked approximately 28 km over the two days up to an altitude of over 2000m. It was a challenging hike with reasonably steep ascents and each pupil carrying their own backpack with their own food and cooking utensils.
The weather was perfect, with beautiful sunny days and almost full-moon evenings. The tribe worked well together, encouraging and helping each other and having to dig deep at times to endure and persevere. We watched them ‘grow’ over these two days in numerous beautiful ways.
Above all – it was a privilege to be in the vast grandeur of God’s beautiful creation with a special bunch of kids.
