Football vs Kearsney College. ⚽ St Charles College Clinch Victory in Final Spring Fixture Against Kearsney College.
St Charles College, Pietermaritzburg, hosted Kearsney College in the final spring football fixture of the season, delivering a tense and competitive match on Harwin Road. The home side started brightly, exploiting gaps in the wide channels of Kearsney’s defence. Despite promising build-up play, their final passes and crosses lacked precision. That allowed Kearsney to grow into the game and create chances as the first half drew to a close.
With tempers flaring and multiple yellow cards issued, the referee took a moment at halftime to speak with both captains. He urged them to calm their teams and restore discipline.
The second half saw Kearsney settle quickly, generating a few half-chances as the tempo increased. Both sides pushed for a decisive goal. St Charles responded with three impactful substitutions that shifted momentum in their favour. Mlambo came close with a one-on-one opportunity 15 minutes from time, and substitute Alckmin Simone rattled the crossbar just seven minutes later.
Simone ultimately proved to be the difference-maker. Picking up the ball just outside the box, his shot took a deflection and found the back of the net, sealing a 1–0 victory for St Charles College.
The win capped off an unbeaten season for St Charles College 1st XI on their newly relocated Home of Football, marking a memorable end to the spring campaign.
