Eskom Expo for Young Scientists. Eskom Expo for Young Scientists is an exposition, or science fair, where students undoubtedly have an opportunity to show others their projects about their own scientific investigations. At the annual prestigious Eskom Expo for Young Scientists International Science Fair (ISF), selected students from 35 Expo Regions in South Africa then compete against the best young scientists from around the country. This also include some international participants as well. Included are Russia, Mexico, Ireland, India, Turkey, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique as well as Lesotho. The Expo is also the most prestigious event for young scientists on the continent of Africa.
14 500 Students participated
In 2024, 14 500 students participated. Raees Ahmed Khan is a learner from Vryburg High School. He was one of the 308 students who were invited to participate at the International Science Fair. It took place during the September Holidays. The students competed in 13 different categories, with Raees competing in the Engineering category. “We are proud to say that Raees was also one of only 66 learners who received gold medals for projects. The medals were awarded for students who averaged between 80-100% after extensive judging by qualified individuals in that specific category.”
Furthermore, special awards were given to students who impressed judges with their ground-breaking projects. It is projects that also tackled real-world challenges through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). On the Special Award evening, Raees also received the Special Exibitors Award. The reward included a cash prize of R1000 as well as a laptop pad.

Eskom Expo vir Jong Wetenskaplikes
Eskom Expo vir Jong Wetenskaplikes is ‘n uitstalling, of wetenskapskou, waar studente ‘n geleentheid kry om hul projekte oor hul eie wetenskaplike ondersoeke ten toon te stel. By die jaarlikse gesogte Eskom Expo for Young Scientists International Science Fair (ISF) ding gekeurde studente uit 35 Expo-streke in Suid-Afrika dan mee teen die beste jong wetenskaplikes van regoor die land. Ingesluit is ook ‘n paar internasionale deelnemers van Rusland, Mexiko, Ierland, Indië , Turkye, Ghana, Kenia, Mosambiek en Lesotho. Die Eskom Expo is die mees gesogte geleentheid vir jong wetenskaplikes op die vasteland van Afrika.
In 2024 het 14 500 studente deelgeneem. Raees Ahmed Khan van Hoërskool Vryburg was een van die 308 leerlinge wat genooi is om deel te neem aan die International Science Fair. Dit het plaasgevind gedurende die September-vakansie. Die studente het in 13 verskillende kategorieë deelgeneem, met Raees wat in die Ingenieurskategorie deelgeneem het. “Ons is trots om te sê dat Raees een van slegs 66 leerders was wat goue medaljes ontvang het. Dit is vir projekte waaraan daar tussen 80-100% toegeken is na uitgebreide beoordeling deur gekwalifiseerde individue in daardie spesifieke kategorie.”
Verder is spesiale toekennings gegee aan studente wat beoordelaars beïndruk het met hul baanbrekende projekte. Hierdie projekte is werklike uitdagings deur wetenskap, tegnologie, ingenieurswese en wiskunde (STEM) aangepak is. Op die Spesiale Toekenningsaand het Raees die Spesiale Uitstallerstoekenning ontvang wat ‘n kontantprys van R1000 asook ‘n skootrekenaartablet ingesluit het.
