Derek Braans Rugby Festival. Look who we found!
Kingswood College’s U13A rugby boys recently took part in the annual Derek Braans Rugby Festival hosted by Cowan House. The team was also delighted to reconnect with a familiar face — former Kingswood Junior Head, Mr Hough (pictured centre). He now serves as Headmaster of Cowan House. The festival itself honours another former Kingswood Junior Head, Mr Braans, after whom the event is named.
Strong Performances on the Field
The boys certainly represented Kingswood with pride and enthusiasm. They were playing an exciting brand of rugby that showcased teamwork, determination, and commitment. Over the course of the festival, they delivered impressive results, winning three out of their four matches:
- Kingswood 61 – Laddsworth 10
- Kingswood 21 – Ashton College Ballito 10
- Kingswood 14 – Highbury 40
- Kingswood 21 – Pridwin 12
Their positive attitude and sportsmanship, both on and off the field, deserve high commendation.
Gratitude and Acknowledgements
A heartfelt thank you goes to Cowan House for hosting this memorable festival. We also extend our appreciation to our dedicated coaches for guiding the boys, and to the parents and supporters whose encouragement and presence made the trip possible.
This was a fantastic effort from the entire squad — well done, U13A boys, for flying the Kingswood flag with such pride!
