Deputy Head Girl 2025 – Grantleigh College

Deputy Head Girl 2025. Like we did the past years, schoolsthatrock again chat to the Head Leaders of High Schools in South Africa this year. Today we talk to Mia Vermaak, Deputy Head Girl 2025 of Grantleigh College, Richards Bay, KZN. For the first time in Grantleigh College’ history they have twins as Head Prefects. Mia’s twins sister, Anika, is the Head Girl 2025.

“As Deputy Head Girl 2025, I’m looking forward to leading by example, strengthening the sense of community at Grantleigh. I am also working with my team to make a lasting impact on the school.

My personal goals for this year are to grow as a leader, inspire others, and ensure every student feels valued and heard. For the school, I want to continue fostering a positive and supportive environment where every student can thrive and where every student feels they belong.

The qualities of our school that stand out to me the most, is that Grantleigh College is incredibly welcoming. It’s truly one big family. The love and support that students show each other make it a special place to be.

Changes I would love to see, is that the school sing worship songs together.

I will persuade someone to make our school their choice by showing them the strong sense of community at Grantleigh. I will also add the respect and support among students, and how the school helps individuals grow academically and personally.

Leadership trait

My strongest leadership trait is my ability to bring people together under a common goal and inspire them to give their best efforts.

I get collaboration from my team by making sure we all share the same vision. We should also understand that our goal is to make a positive impact on the school. When people feel their contributions matter, they are more likely to commit.

The person I look up to mostly is my mom. She has been my rock and my guide. From the very beginning she made sure that no dream was too big and that no goal was out of reach. She has taught me what it means to live life fully and embrace whatever comes my way!

I mostly daydream about playing professional sports.

My favourite dish is Pasta!

If I had to be a kitchen article, I would probably be a cutting board – strong, dependable and always there to support others.

My career after school after school? I want to study a degree in physiotherapy at the University of Stellenbosch.
