On Wednesday, 24 April, the Maya Deaf Foundation (MDF) gifted little Ava-Rose Adonis, from Union Prep School, with a brand new tablet.
This tablet – that contains a recommended special communication app – will assist Ava-Rose, who suffers from profound hearing loss, to communicate through the use of visual cues. In addition to this, MDF also recently assisted in financing the servicing of her hearing aids.
“All of this was made possible as a result of a special collection gathered at Union Preparatory School’s Carols by Candlelight event in November 2018,” said Lazlo Maya. Laszlo Maya, an Old-Unionite, heads up the Maya Deaf Foundation.
“We are so grateful that we could do this for little Ava. The funds raised with the Carols by Candlelight event was also used to purchase a protective cover for the tablet. A word of grateful thanks is extended to everyone who opened their hearts and wallets towards this cause.”
