Curro Douglasdale. Curro Holdings, the JSE-listed independent school group, is delighted to announce the appointment of Dumisani Kunene. He the new Executive Head of Curro Douglasdale Primary School in Sandton, Gauteng.
Mr Kunene is a passionate and committed teacher. He possesses a Master’s Degree (M.Ed), with specialisation in Education Leadership and Management. He obtained his degree from the University of the Witwatersrand. Dumisani also has over 25 years of operational experience working in several independent schools across the province.
He is also no stranger to the values, aims and ethos of Curro. Mr Kunene has previously been appointed Head of Primary at Curro Waterfall in January 2019. He then took up the same position at fast-growing Curro Edenvale.
Now at a younger, smaller but rapidly growing school in the heart of Douglasdale. Mr Kunene is looking ahead to digging his heels in right away. Curro Douglasdale will be welcoming the school’s first Grade 7 intake in 2024.
Partnership
He is firmly grounded in the belief that education is a partnership between the parent, the school, and the learner. Mr Kunene is also keen to work together with the wider Douglasdale community. He aims to help craft 21st century opportunities for learners to grow both inside the classroom as well as on the sports field. Furthermore also in music halls, in art rooms, drama theatres and debating clubs.
Commenting on the new promotion, Shaun McMurtry, Business Executive at Curro Holdings said, “this is an incredibly exciting time for Mr Kunene to be joining Curro Douglasdal. This is a school which is modest in size and unique in its make-up but developing rapidly in stature. His promotion is very well deserved. I strongly believe he will embrace his new role with enthusiasm. He will also make a valuable contribution to both the school and the community.
