Computer Applications Olympiad. Thomas Schoeman, Grade 11 learner from Grey College, participates in the 2024 Computer Applications Olympiad. The Applications Olympiad is a challenge for those who take CAT or the ICDL or are otherwise computer literate. The participants have to solve a number of problems using a Microsoft Office package and the data provided. Contestants are allowed to use the application of their choice, such as the Word Processor, Spreadsheet, Database and Presentation Tool. There is only one paper for all age groups. The competition is most beneficial if entire classes take part, but individual participation is also encouraged.
Thomas is through to the Olympiad Finals. He is now taking part in the final round which is taking place in Pretoria at Tyger Valley College from 6 to 9 July.
He is one of the 11 finalists, and the only one from the Free State.
