Four days of outstanding cricket unfolded on Pyott Field as the Colts Cricket Festival took centre stage, showcasing skill, determination, and spirited competition.
Day One – Time Cricket vs Michaelhouse U15A
The opening day delivered a memorable encounter. Michaelhouse posted a formidable 390 all out, with Connor Mote leading Grey’s bowling attack and claiming impressive figures of 5 for 39. Grey responded with resilience, highlighted by a superb 254-run partnership between Mason Groch (unbeaten on 109) and Bilaal Munshi (128). The match concluded in a well-earned draw, setting the tone for the festival.
Day Two – Time Cricket vs Steyn City U15A
Grey High Colts continued their strong form, compiling 279 all out. Steyn City replied with 174 for 7, and despite spirited play from both sides, the contest ended in another draw.
Day Three – 50 Overs vs St Albans College U15A
Saturday brought a fiercely competitive one-day clash. Batting first, Grey posted 223 for 8, with Connor Mote once again making his mark—this time with the bat—scoring a valuable 59 not out. St Albans fought hard in their chase, finishing on 219, but Grey held their nerve to secure a narrow and deserved two-wicket victory.
Day Four – T20 vs St Davids
The festival concluded with a thrilling T20 contest. St Davids set a target of 170, with Grey’s bowlers keeping pressure on by claiming five wickets. In reply, Caleb Keet spearheaded the chase with a determined 57, but Grey ultimately fell short, finishing on 154 for 4 and losing by 16 runs.
The Colts Cricket Festival was a celebration of talent and teamwork. Grey High’s players delivered standout performances across formats, with Connor Mote and Caleb Keet among the notable contributors. The festival not only showcased competitive cricket but also reinforced the spirit of the game.
