Chess Winter National Championships. Three Curro Durbanville learners achieved exceptional results while representing the Western Cape School Chess team. They participated at the Chess Winter National Championships.
- Amahle Zenzile placed second in the girls under 15 section. She finished with the joint top score of 6 points out of 7 games only to be split by tiebreak.
- Natasha Joubert placed third in the girls under 18 section, finishing with the joint top score of 6 points out of 7 games only to be split by tiebreak.
- Zante Palmer placed 10th in the girls under 18 section, with a score of 5 points out of 7 games.
Their brilliant performances assisted the Western Cape Schools Chess Team being crowned overall champions.
Zante Palmer was also selected to represent the Western Cape team. She participated in a creative design workshop where she won the Best Logo Design award for her artistic recreation of the Winter Games.
A big round of applause to coach Reuben Salimu, who is also the Head Coach of the Western Cape Schools Chess Team.
