Caring for our environment. Last year, young environmental champion Kaylee Beresford discovered a tiny turtle on Boulder Beach in St Francis Bay. The little creature, later named Tumbles, had tragically lost half of its front flipper—likely injured by a crab.
Kaylee and her family immediately took action, bringing Tumbles to the dedicated turtle rehabilitation team at Bayworld in Gqeberha. Under their expert care, the turtle was lovingly nurtured, growing stronger and healthier with each passing day.
Last week marked a joyful milestone: Tumbles was finally ready to return to the ocean. Kaylee was invited to join the Bayworld team for the special release, witnessing the turtle’s triumphant return to its natural habitat.
From rescue to rehabilitation to release, Kaylee’s journey with Tumbles was a true full-circle moment—a story of compassion, responsibility, and hope.
Stulting Primary School is immensely proud of Kaylee for setting such a shining example of caring for our environment. Her actions remind us all that even the smallest gestures can make a big difference.
