CAMPS BAY LEARNER WINS GOLD AT SA K1 CHAMPIONSHIPS

Holly Smith in Grade 8 at Camps Bay High School won Gold in both events she participated in at the PW Harvey & Co 2020 SA K1 Championships held in St Francis Bay.

Holly participated in the K1 and K2 (double kayak) races. At SA Champs these races are paddled over 16km with portages which involves getting out your boat and sprinting 100m and then getting back in your boat. This is done 3 times whilst racing.

Holly paddled exceptionally well and won gold for both the single K1 and K2 doubles event, and even beat the U16 girls.

Holly is incredibly committed to her paddling and is on the water paddling at her club, PCC, in Lakeside, at 5.45am every morning and then again in the afternoon.
