Buffalo Regatta. Buffalo Regatta and Selborne Sprints.
Just days after the ECRA Regatta, Clarendon’s Rowing Club returned to the Buffalo River for two prestigious events – the Buffalo Regatta and the Selborne Sprints. With schools and junior clubs from across the country competing, the atmosphere was electric and the racing fiercely contested.
Selborne Sprints (500m)
U15s
- Ashleigh Steenkamp placed 2nd in the sculls final, with Olothando Ndzundzu finishing 5th.
- In the double sculls final, Olothando Ndzundzu and Rachael Hewestson placed 4th, while Chloe Dicke and Ashleigh Steenkamp came 5th.
- The highlight was the quad final, where Clarendon powered to gold.
U16s
- Kelsi Sutherland secured 3rd place in her sculls heat, while Eva Kelly finished 6th.
Opens
- Alara Henn placed 4th in her sculls heat.
- In the double sculls, Phoebe Coleman and Sophie Hartwanger finished 5th, while Holleigh Willis and Grace Gibbons placed 6th. Sarah Jordan and Stacey Puchert achieved 4th in their heat.
- In the coxed fours, the First Four placed 4th in the final, while the Second Four claimed 1st place in their division.
- The Second Quad also took gold, and the Eight delivered a thrilling race to finish 2nd – just 0.83 seconds behind the winners.
Buffalo Regatta (1000m U15 / 2000m U16 & Opens)
U15s
- In the sculls finals, Ashleigh Steenkamp placed 4th and Olothando Ndzundzu 6th.
- Chloe Dicke and Ashleigh Steenkamp secured 3rd in the doubles.
- The quad once again shone, bringing home gold.
U16s
- Eva Kelly placed 3rd in her heat, with Kelsi Sutherland close behind in 4th.
Opens
- Alara Henn placed 5th in the First Sculls heat.
- Sarah Jordan and Stacey Puchert placed 4th in the pairs heat.
- In the coxed quads, the First Quad placed 3rd in their heat, while the Second Quad dominated their division with a 1st place finish.
- The coxed fours final saw the First Four claim silver and the Second Four finish 5th.
- In the marquee Eights race, Clarendon surged to a convincing gold victory.
Clarendon is incredibly proud of its rowers for their determination, grit, and team spirit across two demanding regattas. Their performances not only showcased skill and resilience but also brought immense pride to Clarendon High School for Girls.
