Bloemfontein Schools Hockey League. 🏑 Historic Triumph for Onze Rust Primary: U13 Hockey League Champions 2025.
In a thrilling showdown on 18 September at Grey College, the U13 hockey team from Onze Rust Primary School etched their names into history by clinching the Bloemfontein Schools Hockey League title for 2025 — a first-ever for the school.
Grey College struck early, netting the opening goal within the first five minutes of the match. But Onze Rust responded with remarkable composure and determination, equalising shortly thereafter and then surging ahead with two more goals before halftime. The second half saw no further scoring, but the intensity never waned as Onze Rust held firm to secure a 3–1 victory.
This landmark achievement is even more extraordinary considering that Onze Rust Primary only inaugurated its AstroTurf facility in January this year. With limited time to adapt to the new surface, the team’s rapid rise to the top is a testament to their grit, talent, and relentless spirit.
