Battle of the Wolves. Curro Durbanville’s much-anticipated showdown between their old boys and existing first teams took place last night on the High School campus. Curro named this the Battle of the Wolves.
The day was kicked off with a closely contested cricket match that went down to the wire, with the old boys needing only one wicket. In addition, the existing first-team needed eight runs to win. A brilliant runout saw the Old Boys victorious, and a revenge match was definitely on the cards.
The Netball girls then took over, and again there was not much between the two teams. The Old Girls were leading 13-10 at the end of the third quarter. But a determined fightback from the first team saw them gain the advantage and take the win 18-15.
Curro Durbanville also had a great cameo between the teachers and U19B netball teams. Who knew that rugby players could be such great netball players?
Old Girls giving it their all
With the scales evenly balanced, the Hockey teams took the stage with the Old Girls giving it their all. Once again an extremely tight match was played with neither side giving in. At this time the first team managed to score a goal ending the game 1-0.
It was then the chance for the hockey boys, and both teams had come out to win. Full time saw the scores tied on 2-2 and a penalty shoot-out on the cards.A great ball-hitting saw the Old Boys take the game!
That leaves the day with two wins each for the old boys and the existing teams!
Well done to everyone who played and participated. Friendships, camaraderie, good fun and just being together was the overall winner! It was a great evening, and Curro Durbanville is looking forward to the next Old Boys day.
