Basketball final fixture. Kearsney College travelled to Riverside to face Clifton High School in their Basketball final fixture of the term, played on a hot and blustery morning.
The game began cautiously, with both teams struggling to find rhythm. The swirling wind on the outdoor courts made scoring difficult, and numerous shots went astray. Kearsney edged the first quarter 8–7.
In the second quarter, however, Kearsney adapted well to the conditions. Their defense tightened, keeping Clifton scoreless, while their offense began to flow more freely. By halftime, Kearsney had pulled ahead comfortably at 29–7.
Although Clifton improved in the second half, they were unable to close the gap. Kearsney maintained control, outscoring the hosts 37–14 in the final two quarters. The match ended in a commanding 66–21 victory for Kearsney, who, despite a tight opening quarter, never looked in danger.
Top Performers Kearsney: Pabatso Sithole (21 points), Lubansi Mseleku (12), Daniel Prinsloo and Lwandile Njapha (8 each) Clifton: No player scored more than 5 points.
