Australian Youth Water Polo. Kearsney College Water Polo Players Selected for SA Teams 2026.
Kearsney College, KwaZulu-Natal, is celebrating a remarkable achievement. Five of its water polo players have been selected to represent South Africa at the 2026 Australian Youth Water Polo Championships. It is set to take place in Brisbane from 8–13 April.
U18 and U16 National Selections
- U18 SA Team: Max Mills, Thomas Aylward, and Thomas Francke
- U16 SA Team: Dru Mills and Cristiano Sandri
Ahead of the tournament, the players will attend training camps with Australian-based coaches. It is to ensure they are well-prepared for the international competition.
Rigorous Selection Process
The athletes were evaluated on technical ability, tactical awareness, consistency, teamwork, and their commitment to the values upheld by Schools Water Polo South Africa. Selection was based on performances throughout the 2025 schools’ water polo season. Particular emphasis was placed on the SA Schools Inter-Provincial Tournament.
Dual Recognition
In addition to their selection for the Schools Water Polo South Africa team, Thomas Francke and Thomas Aylward have also earned places in the SA U18 Men’s Team chosen by Swim SA, further underscoring their talent and dedication.
Pride in Achievement
Kearsney College is immensely proud of these young athletes. Their success reflects not only their individual excellence but also the strength of the school’s water polo program. Their participation on the international stage will serve as inspiration to future generations of Kearsney sportsmen.
