Astro launch. St Andrew’s School, Bloemfontein had a successful Astro launch last night, Tuesday, 19 March. The school launched their brand new, ground breaking, Astro Turf facility.
This is the first of its kind in Africa to utilize waterless technology. It is also in line with the Olympic facilities to be used in Paris this year. This state-of-the-art surface is poised to become a focal point for national and provincial teams. It is showcasing St. Andrew’s commitment to providing the best standards for its hockey players of all ages.
First in Africa
St. Andrew’s is also the first in Africa to employ cutting-edge waterless technology. This revolutionary turf, installed by the Trompie Group not only conserves water resources but also ensures consistent playability in all weather conditions. The turf also meets the stringent requirements set by international hockey bodies. It’s quality makes it viable to host high level competitions and training sessions at school level and higher. St. Andrew’s Astro Turf is already booked by national and provincial teams for training camps, tournaments, and competitions.
