Jan het hierdie titel die afgelope naweek in Bejaia, Algerië verower. Dit gee hom nou ‘n voorwaardelike IM-titel (International Master-titel) asook ‘n GM-norm (Grand Master).
Jan is op 14 jarige ouderdom die jongste Afrika Junior o.20-kampioen tot dusver!
Africa Junior Chess Champion. Jan Karsten, Grade 8 learner from Jan van Riebeeck High School in Cape Town, was crowned the U14 African chess champion earlier this year… and now he is also the new African Junior u.20 chess champion!
Jan won this title this past weekend in Bejaia, Algeria. It now gives him a conditional IM title (International Master title) as well as a GM norm (Grand Master).
At the age of 14, Jan is the youngest African Junior u.20 champion so far!
