Against Cruelty To Animals. Camps Bay High School’s ACTA (Against Cruelty To Animals) Society supports various Animal Welfare Projects over the course of the year.
A project that they recently supported was Raise ‘n Rescue’s Shoebox Project. Raise ‘n Rescue is not an animal shelter – instead they have different foster homes in and around Cape Town and they help to rehome cats and kittens in need.
The student head of Camps Bay High School’s ACTA Society, Tessa Sirin, said, “We collected 27 kitten shoeboxes last term. Each member of the society who participated in the project chose a kitten at Raise n Rescue they wanted to help and then bought four or five items on the list provided by Raise n Rescue. The project was a lot of fun and it was very rewarding for the students at our school to know that they had helped a kitten in need.”
For Camps Bay High School’s Service Day, members of ACTA also made toys for cats and walked dogs from DARG (Domestic Animal Rescue Group).
This term, the ACTA society is supporting the SPCA and they are looking for donations of:
- Pet Food
- Blankets/towels/cloths
- Ripped/torn clothes
- Pillows
- Toys
- Water/food bowls (old ice-cream tubs or tupperwares that have lost their lids!)
- Pet leashes/collars
Donations may be dropped off at Camps Bay High School for distribution to the SPCA.
