Robotics and Coding. In the Intermediate Phase at Curro Waterfall they focus on building character and preparing our learners for a future that is ever changing. The world is moving forward fast and the school aims to keep up. Curro’s curriculum teaches the learners coding and robotics with Resolute. “We aim to take them on a technology journey. From learning block-based coding to understanding the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence.
As a part of this journey, we aim to teach essential 21st century learning skills. It include critical thinking, creative thinking, problem-solving, and coordination with peers.
All learners have two hours of Robotics and Coding per week as part of the curriculum. The Robotics Club then has an additional hour at the end of the week.
The Robotics Club, lead by Mrs Els-van Rooyen, consists of selected learners who excel in Robotics and Coding as a subject. In this weekly club, they work on developing their skills to a higher level, as they build robots, prepare to compete in the World Robotics Olympiad, and participate in more in-depth learning experiences with the three essential pillars of technology – engineering, data science, and computer science – preparing them to pursue careers in Robotics and Coding.
