Hesmé is a learner who managed to achieve remarkable results despite the difficulties she faced. Hesmé was diagnosed with a skull malformation (Chiari malformation) in 2016 and underwent decompression surgery to correct her balance and dizziness. In 2019 she suffered a series of concussive blows to her head and was diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome. Hesmé has suffered ongoing seizures and fainting spells since then and lost her ability to speak for a month after her first concussion. Furthermore, she has been diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder and also with Autism Spectrum Disorder. However, none of these hardships have stood in her way and with the help of Lizzie, her emotional support, Hesmé has achieved excellent results in the IEB exams. She is the school’s top achiever on receiving a 92.14% pass!
