St Charles Speech Night. The highlight of the St Charles College calendar has always been our annual Speech Night. Despite the Covid restrictions, this year was no different. They transformed the Samukele Khumalo Arena into a beautiful venue. It was fit for an evening celebrating all that the St Charles College community, and in particular the boys, have achieved over the past year.
They could only welcome a limited number of people into the Samukele Khumalo Arena. The college broadcasted live stream the auspicious event to allow the wider Saints community to share in this special evening. The Matric class of 2021 took pride of place in front of the stage, savouring their final formal function in their schooling careers. The speech given by 2021 Head Boy, Daniel Jacobs, was one of the highlights of the evening. Seeing the College through the eyes of the Head Boy is an insightful experience. It is wonderful to hear of the memories he will cherish of his years at St Charles College.
The announcement of the 2022 prefect body was one of the most anticipated items on the programme. They congratulated the House Captains, Prefects and Council Leaders. The top five selected to represent the College as Head Boy and Deputies are Mark Nagel (Head Boy), Jason Muirhead, Tahir Khonat, Yamikani Kadzombe and Reece Reynders.
