Schools That Rock chat to Edgemead High School’s 1st Boys Soccer Captain

It is a priviledge for Schools That Rock to introduce Ndubuisi Ozoemena, captain of Edgemead’s 1st boys Soccer team, to the visitors of our website.

“I began playing sports at the age of 4 and I began playing competitively at 6. I am quite versatile on the field but my preferred position is at the middle of the park. I’ve captained before at previous clubs and as of now I’m not a captain at a club.

My individual routine consists mostly of cardio and calisthenics. Since we’re past pre-season our routines at training mostly consists of tactical drills.

I used to play other sports too. I played cricket, I played some rugby too and I even was part of the athletics team in both primary and high school, however, I made the decision in 2019 to sacrifice all those sports and prioritise my football. If you had to ask me, I would personally prefer team sports mainly because it’s more interactive and I find it very fun to combine my skill set with another’s.

My main role as captain is to be the anchor of the team, to keep us united and to lead by example on and off the pitch.

After school my wish is to pursue a career in football. It’s been a dream of mine ever since I was a kid and it was the sport my family associated with.  Becoming a professional would mean the absolute world to me.”
