Schools That Rock asked a few questions to Cassidy Hudson, Head Girl of Treverton College, Mooiriver, KZN.
Question: What do you look forward to most when the 2021 school year starts? I always look forward to seeing my friends after a long time away from them, but I also look forward to seeing my teachers and houseparents, getting back into school routine, playing sports, and just being back in the Treverton vibe that is always buzzing.
Question: Are there any changes or adjustments you would like to see happen at Treverton College? I would love to see more school spirit, not just when we go play sports matches away, or when we hold events, but during everyday school life in the way that we support each other and build each other up.
Question: If you had to make a statement to convince someone that your school is the right choice, what would that statement be? It is very rare to find a school, or any other place with so much love and warmth going around. You are guaranteed to hear laughter whether you’re walking through dorm, down the corridor, or if you’re at a sports practise or match. The amount of care shown by teachers and houseparents is amazing, and I have always felt safe, loved and supported here. There are so many opportunities that are given to you here that are difficult to find in other places, and it is a very special place with quality people that make the school what it is. Coming to Treverton was one of the best decisions I have ever made and there is no place I would rather be, and I hope that other people can experience this too.
Question: Who would you consider to be your role model at your school? I consider many of the teachers as role models, but specifically my previous housemother, Mrs Purdon and my current house mother, Mrs Haug. They both have shown me unconditional love and have been amazing examples of Godly women. I have learned so much from them and they have always supported me through my best and my worst.
Question: Which sport activity offered at your school is your favourite? Horse riding is my favourite, but Netball is a close second and I love the outdoor opportunities like rafting and hiking that the school offers.
Question: What is your favourite meal? Sweet Chilli Chicken Wraps.
Question: Which career choices are you considering after school? I’m hoping to study medicine after school as it really interests me.
Question: Which university do you want to attend next year? I would love to go to Tuks so I can be closer to home and my brother, who also studies there.
Question: Do you have a message for your fellow pupils for 2021? I hope this year will be a year of growth for everyone individually and as a school. I also hope everyone tries to take every opportunity they are given at Treverton and make lasting memories, while appreciating all that the school has to offer and how special the school is.
